:( I didn't see this coming.
ReplyDeleteI'm General BlackDragon, one of the people helping with Slaor's BZ2 EPIC mod. My condolences to the family+friends. I'm a bit shaken myself too.
Slaor had mentioned he recovered several models from an old HDD for EPIC. Unfortunately, I never received any of them for the next EPIC patch. I don't want to see such good work go to waste and I know I and the rest of the Battlezone 2 community would greatly appreciate any assistance. For us, Slaor was a prolific modder and a friendly member of the community, we will miss him greatly.
I can be reached by email as rebelion2(at)rock(dot)com
I have sent you an email and assure you all that I will do what i can to get the files to you.
DeleteSlaor's work is his legacy and should be shared.

Slaor/Andrew is one of the best and nicest guys I never got to meet in person while he was here. His happy and sunny personality always came through whenever I read what he said and I will miss him very much :-( -- that is, until I get to meet up him again down the road! :-)
ReplyDeleteI am shocked to hear the news.
ReplyDeleteWe have been working together very closely on the BZ2 mod Forgotten Enemies and also after that on the early EPIC stuff.
I have learned so much from him in terms of texturing, still using that knowledge to this day.
Farewell my friend!

This is shocking and surprising. I was looking forward to working with Slaor on some project, be it EPIC or something else, once my school work was done.
ReplyDeleteIt goes to show it's best not to put off till tomorrow what you can do today for you don't know how long others will be with us.
In the Battlezone community he has a huge legacy and he will be sorely missed, not just for his body of work but for his positive attitude and willingness to contribute.
its really sad to hear such news.
ReplyDeletei had contacted slaor on ogre forums to wok on the "MAD - Machines Anarchy and Destruction" project (if you have access to his private messages on the forums). He was busy at void destroyer so we delayed it. would be awesome to continue to work on one of the projects he was very passionate about. i would give full credit of course. I just think its a great project with pontetial to show off a lot of his skills.
